Who RenderBid is NOT for (and why sales apps fail with contractor teams)

Most software companies will tell you their product is for everybody. It isn't, and pretending otherwise wastes your time and ours. So here's who RenderBid is not for, and the honest reasons sales apps fail with contractor teams.

RenderBid is not for you if...

You only do new construction. RenderBid is built for the in-home appointment, where a homeowner decides on the spot. If you bid to builders, it's the wrong tool.

You do repair and handyman work. A $900 repair doesn't need a rendering and a price presentation. RenderBid earns its keep on jobs in the tens of thousands.

You're a one-person shop with no sales process yet. If you're running every appointment yourself and you're happy with that, a guided appointment won't change much. It pays off when more than one person sells.

Your corporate office picks your tools. Franchise locations usually can't choose their own sales software. That's not a knock; it's just a fit question.

You want a CRM. RenderBid runs the appointment. It works alongside your CRM, which keeps doing the follow-up and marketing. If you're shopping for a CRM, you'll be disappointed.

Why sales apps fail with contractor teams

If you've bought a sales app before and your reps stopped using it within a month, you're not alone. It almost always fails for one of four reasons.

1. It adds work instead of replacing it. If a rep still needs the spreadsheet, the brochure, and the paper contract, the app is just one more thing. Reps drop extra work the first time they're in a hurry.

2. It doesn't know your products. A generic catalog means the rep is typing in prices and descriptions by hand, which is slower than the spreadsheet they already know.

3. It doesn't control the price. If the rep can see the margin and change the price freely, the app becomes a calculator for discounting.

4. Nobody set it up. The software was sold, the login was emailed, and setup was "up to you." In March, nobody has time.

When it is built around your products and your pricing, it is the fastest way to the signature.

What has to be true for it to work

  • It's the only way to get to a signature. The proposal and the agreement come out of the app, so using it is how the rep gets paid.
  • It's built with your products and your pricing, before your reps ever see it.
  • It's faster than the old way at every step.
  • The owner sets the rules (retail first, promotions, approval limits) and the app holds them.

That's why RenderBid starts with a setup where we build your company into it. Not because we like setup fees, but because a sales tool without your products, prices, and paperwork in it is the one your reps stop using.

Is it for you?

If you sell siding, decks, or windows in the home, you have more than one person selling, and your best closer (often you) closes a lot more than the rest, it's worth 30 minutes on your own numbers.
